Learner Support

Most of the working adults who train at The Warrington Business School are sponsored by employers, who value their service.

Although, the training programme is linked to employer customers' strategic objectives, learning plans are created for individual employees to match their personal needs and ambitions.  All learners are required to complete an initial assessment before the onset of any training through The Warrington Business School.  These results are kept confidential and used to construct an individual learning plan that can increase communication and interpersonal skills along with technical ability at once.

Learners working towards a vocational qualification will be partnered with an assessor.  An assessor will be assigned to you for the duration of your programme. They will provide on-going support to you and your employer as required.

The main responsibilities of the assessors are to:

• Ensure that a full induction takes place during the first week of the

programme

• Identify and agree your individual learning plan with you and ensure it

is reviewed on a regular basis

• Visit on a regular basis, to meet you and your employer to discuss

progress and achievement and agree on-going actions to ensure you

remain on target to achieve your learning plan. These reviews will be

formally recorded and must be signed by yourself and the employer

• Assist as far as possible with any difficulties experienced in relation to

the programme

• Be responsible for the on going work based assessment of your

NVQ. Work based assessments will be planned and agreed on a

regular basis to ensure that you can make appropriate progress

towards the achievement of your learning plan

It is in everyone’s interest to resolve problems before they escalate. To this end, it is important to alert your assessor to any problems at an early stage so that we can help to resolve any issues as they arise. Your assessor has access to many support networks within the college and will refer you to appropriate colleagues if you have any issues regarding welfare and benefits, health concerns or equal opportunity issues.

You automatically become a student at Warrington Collegiate when you commence your programme. As a student of the college you are entitled to access the wide range of facilities offered across our sites. This includes the library and IT facilities and the student union. The first point of contact for these facilities is through Learner Services.

The College Learner handbook, which is provided to all new learners, provides further information.
