The Warrington Business School takes the lead on petroleum engineering training with the appointment of Dr. Hussain Ahmed MBE, an accomplished author and renowned specialist in the chemical, oil and gas industry.
The petroleum industry, or downstream sector as it is also known, includes the production, distribution and retail sale of automotive fuel. According to Cogent, the sector skills council for the industry, the search for “greener” fuel like biodiesel and bioethanol made from renewable, environmentally friendly sources is revolutionizing and revitalising the industry. This has created a new demand for skills within the sector, and ample job opportunities particularly at vocational level 2 and 3.
Dr Ahmed, who is a business consultant and board member of Iraq Energy, is an expert in the industry with almost 20 years experience, and brings another specialism to the business development team of The Warrington Business School. He was awarded a PhD in Oil & Gas Production from Heroit-Watt University in Edinburgh. His credentials also include an MBE, MSc in Petroleum Engineering, MIChemE, and MSPE. In addition to the wealth of his academic knowledge, Ahmed has developed and taught on more than 21 training manuals related to specific processes in the chemical, petrochemical and oil & gas industries in the UK, M. East, & N. Africa (Saudi, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Iraq, Dubai, Libya, Kuwait, Oman, Syria, Jordan and Bahrain.
Since his appointment, The Warrington Business School has been contracted by several EMEA oil companies with Northwest based employees for training. Already a leader in logistics training , the business school’s aim is to extend its offer to the downstream sector and help advance the sector within the Northwest.
Since its launch in 2006, the business school has predominantly worked within the private sector providing consultation and training services that look specifically at organizational performance. The school’s business development team is led by industry professionals and expert trainers, who have market knowledge, industry insight and a real desire to advance the sector. Responsive and results oriented, the training programme itself is distinctly flexible and gives employers greater access to training with minimal disruption. It includes vocational and professional qualifications from entry to post graduate level, workshops, short courses and distance learning.
