MACCLESSFIELD TAXI DRIVERS AWARDED TOP HONOUR
Macclessfield Taxi drivers have proved that they’ve got the drive to succeed after seventy of them were awarded the NVQ Level 2 in Road Passenger Vehicle Driving from The Warrington Business School.
The drivers were presented their certificates by Susannah Tyson, Assistant Principal at The Warrington Business School, one of the north west’s leading training providers, which works with employers to offer the training free of charge.
In order to achieve the qualification, the drivers had to complete a rigorous practical course under the supervision of the business schools training staff. This included being tested on their practical knowledge of the job, how to cope in different day-to-day scenarios and even the legal issues surrounding their role.
Only when they have proved that they meet all the criteria are they awarded the NVQ, meaning that Macclessfield residents are in for a smooth ride next time they ring a cab!
The owners of two of the town’s largest taxi firms, Pat Gillick from Spare Time Taxis and John Hanmer from Silvert Town Taxis, in addition to Mike James from the Macclessfield Licensing Office, were involved in putting drivers forward for the qualification.
Susannah Tyson, Assistant principal at The Warrington Business School comments; “It’s really inspiring to see so many of Macclessfield’s taxi drivers achieving this qualification. The fact that most drivers are self-employed poses a real challenge in the standardization of their knowledge and expertise, making the free provision of course like this so vital.”
