Higher Education Awards

THE WARRINGTON BUSINESS SCHOOL CELEBRATES STUDENT SUCCESS AT THE HIGHER EDUCATION AWARDS

All the hard work of Warrington Collegiate and The Warrington Business School students has paid off and last Thursday (4th November) their achievements were celebrated at the Higher Education Awards.

The ceremony, held at St Elphin’s Church, was a celebration of the determination and commitment of students who have completed HNC, HND, NVQ, Foundation Degrees and teacher training.

As well as the academic certificates, several students also received special awards for outstanding achievements in their subject areas.

Paul Kinsella, who received The Phil Callaghan Memorial Award for outstanding achievement in IT, comments: "I chose to study the Foundation Degree in ICT at Warrington Collegiate as I knew the college course had a good reputation.  I think the IT provision is great and the tutors are very supportive."

Thomas Boughey was awarded the The Graham Lewis Award for Construction and Steve Brookfield was given the Award for Outstanding Achievement in Higher Education. He is now studying Applied Criminology at the University of Huddersfield.

Mature student Gillian Tyer, who was awardeGillian Tyrer (HNC in Business & Management) receives the Student of the Year Award in Higher Education.d the prestigious Student of the Year Award, comments: "Before starting the course I had low self-esteem, I now have confidence in my skills and am looking forward to future prospects. I have loved the whole learning experience and plan to study the Foundation Degree in Business and Management in the near future."

Principal of Warrington Collegiate and The Warrington Business School, Paul Hafren says: “Our students all work hard to produce fantastic results and the ceremony was a great way to recognise their achievements.  We wish them every success as they move on to continue their studies or to employment.”
