Age: 18

Former School: Lowton High School

Course: Accountancy Apprenticeship, AAT Level 2

“I was looking for a full time course so I telephoned Warrington Collegiate to see what courses were available.  The advisor at college told me about the apprenticeship scheme and I had an interview with Brookson, where I was offered the Accountancy apprenticeship.  I wanted to work in an accountancy firm or Finance department so this was perfect for me.  I saw this as an opportunity to build my knowledge and to gain a recognised qualification.

I like the way the course is structured into different modules from the introductory course to the advanced.  It eases you in, especially if you haven’t got a background in accounts. When I have completed the Level 2 qualification, I would like to complete Level 3 and 4. Eventually I would like to have my own business.  I enjoy coming to college to meet new people.  It is great working in an accountancy firm while you are studying the AAT qualification.”

Age: 19

Former School/College: Priestley College

Course: Accountancy Apprenticeship,  AAT Level 2

“I have wanted to be an accountant since I was 14 so forever really.  I chose the apprenticeship programme at Warrington Collegiate, because it is local and easy to get to. I chose AAT because it is very detailed and focussed in comparison to the A Level course.   I like all the other students and the tutors are great. I want to go onto Levels 3 and 4 and then the ACCA.”

Emma Armstrong Brookson

Name: Emma Armstrong

Age: 21

Former School: The Heath

Course: Accountancy Apprenticeship, AAT Level 2

“It was the quickest way to get where I wanted to be without going to University.  It is a great alternative to university. It covers a variety of subjects and has given me a great start in Accountancy.

I like the way it is structured and relates to what I am doing at work. The subjects you learn while you are there can be used in work the next day.

I would like to complete the Level 3 and 4 and then the Chartered Accountancy qualification.  I have always been very academic and I like studying.”

“I went through Brookson Limited to enrol on the apprenticeship programme. I chose IT because I have always been interested in IT from an early age. I expect the course to be challenging and hard work. I plan on going to the next level and then onto CISCO.

David Jeffries, Organisational Development Manager, Golden Gates Housing Trust

“Warrington Collegiate has provided excellent support to myself and our managers here at Golden Gates Housing Trust in the advice and guidance they have provided in setting up our apprentice scheme. In our meetings with the staff at Warrington Collegiate they have made great efforts to understand the needs of our business to provide practical guidance as to the study options available for our 6 apprentices, covering such a variety of different areas from Joinery to Business Adminuistration. I would not hesitate in recommending any organisation who is contemplating taking on apprentices to start their discussions with the staff at Warrington Collegiate.”
